The Ibaraki Ceramic Art Museum opened within Kasama Geijutsu-no-mori Park in April 2000 as the first prefectural art museum specializing in ceramics of eastern Japan. The museum holds exhibitions that introduce ceramic works by artists who had made excellent achievements in the modern times of Japan, such as Hazan Itaya, who is known as the father of modern ceramic art, and Living National Treasure, Yasunari Matsui, who was an artist in Kasama. There are also special exhibitions showcasing ceramics from Japan and abroad that people can visit and appreciate. Since 2021, the Kasama Ceramic Award was launched to introduce foremost ceramic art.
