Kane no Sanzun is a private hotel that opened in 2021, located in a renovated traditional Japanese residence in Takaoka, Toyama Prefecture. Its primary aim is to promote a deeper understanding of Takaoka copperware by incorporating it into daily life through hands-on usage and immersive experiences. The hotel is a meticulously restored 100-year-old minka (traditional townhouse) located in Kanaya-machi, the renowned metal casting district of Takaoka. Its exterior features a traditional design with latticework facades known as samanoko, while the interior offers a comfortable and clean space that combines modern design with the exquisite craftsmanship of various artisans.
The hotel is operated by Hazuki LLC, which was founded by Motomasa Yotsukawa, the CEO of Takaoka copperware manufacturer Yotsukawa Seisakusho. The establishment of the hotel was driven by the desire to provide a space where guests can feel and experience the 400-year history of Takaoka copperware and share the charm of Kanaya-machi with a wider audience. The hotel consists of two buildings: “Hachi (literally, Room 8),” which accommodates a maximum of 8 guests, and “Tsuki (literally, moon),” which accommodates up to 4 guests. Each room is carefully designed and furnished with authentic touches that emphasize the use of quality materials. Alongside the products crafted by Yotsukawa Seisakusho, the interior also showcases various artworks created by artists associated with Toyama. The space embodies the unique characteristics of Yotsukawa Seisakusho while incorporating the overall appeal of the region, providing guests with a comfortable stay without hesitation, whether they are families, couples, or large groups.
Hachi is equipped with a kitchen and a bar counter. Motomasa himself prepares breakfast in the kitchen alongside a chef and serves guests behind the counter as a bartender in the evenings. He enjoys hearing direct feedback from the guests. Why not indulge in an exceptional accommodation experience at Kane no Sanzun when visiting Takaoka?
