Traceries of scarlet, sometimes gentle and sometimes intense, arise on the pure white glazed surface of this bowl. While presenting an expression rich in emotion, the contrast between the clay and the white glaze, together with its gently distorted form, gives the bowl a neat and handsome charm. The dignified presence created by the distinctive Ana-gama (literally, “cave kiln”) firing technique not only shows respect for the Mino tradition but also lets us catch a glimpse of the depth of the artist’s individual philosophy.
